I enjoy the game a lot as co-op, as having someone there makes the long play through and occasional downtime much more enjoyable, but the game does play a lot like a single-player game with two people. This means you can control a lot of smaller ships better than the one or two big ones I prefer in single-player. You can set individual ships as owned by one or both people, and since you have double the people to manage ships you can’t slow down time. When you’re actually in one of the real time battles, it’s again similar to single-player but with a few changes. You share resources/fleets and go through the cutscenes at the same time.
